Dark Whimsy SERIES: ARTIST'S STATEMENTS

The pieces that I classify as 'Dark Whimsy' are simple in concept. They are examples of pure, imaginative play for me. Usually starting with doodling, I allow myself to delve into the magical worlds that are peopled with the fantastic characters which exist in my mind. I draw from all sorts of inspirations from things that I've seen, experienced or read about - including influences from every culture and historical period of the globe. I distill them all together until they are rebirthed as my own sense of delight and personal gratification. They are among my little snippets of joy which I tuck into the pockets of my heart.
